New Town Health Project Phase 2 on YouTube
This YouTube video depicts Phase 2 of the New Town Health Project. Modeled after the Harlem Children’s Zone, the New Town Success Zone initiative has partnered with Baptist Health and the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida to conduct a “porch to porch” health care needs assessment. Using a community based participatory research model, the New Town Health Project seeks to gain a better understanding of the health disparities and barriers to accessing health care in the New Town section of Jacksonville. On December 5, 2009, New Town Success Zone residents, business owners, sororities, church members and college students came together to launch the New Town Health Project which will train Health Builders! to conduct focus groups and community surveys. New Town Health Builders! will work in partnership with the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida to analyze the data and develop recommendations for improving health care. The New Town Health Project is funded by the Jessie Ball duPont Fund.
