The Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida works with communities in Northeast Florida in a number of ways to improve access to and the quality and delivery of healthcare resources. The Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida facilitates the following throughout the year:
- Community forums on Medicaid Reform, Florida KidCare, National Health Care Reform and more, providing leadership and advocacy for the under- and uninsured in the region.
- Community organizing and convening activities to discuss health injustices and healthcare issues to help communities create viable funding opportunities to develop and implement appropriate solutions.
Policy
An important aspect of the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida’s community organizing activities involves developing policy that influences plans for health advocates and coalitions in Northeast Florida.
By statute, the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida has an agreement with each local government that includes an optional health element in its comprehensive plan. Each agreement is crafted to assure that each local government, regional planning council and local health council will coordinate its activities to facilitate a unified approach to health planning and implementation efforts.
